School visits · How time consuming and expensive is it to organise a bus? ·
How long does it take your class to put
their coats on? · How long can it take to get there? ‘Jays Animal Encounters’, ‘bringing
the zoo to you’ can help solve those logistical problems of taking your class out of the school and at the same time,
cover many topics of the school curriculum – bringing the curriculum to life for the pupils. Jay will tailor the sessions
to meet your particular individual needs, so please feel free to contact him with whatever you require.
School Lessons | Short Description | Animal Encounters | This is a great opportunity to get hands
on and very close to some incredible animals. Discover more about their amazing abilities, adaptations, textures, patterns
and individual personalities.
The children are encouraged to touch and handle the animals where possible. Under Jays expert guidance
your students will soon become competent animal handlers!
(anti-bacterial handwash will be provided for everybody) Suitable for any sized group although obviously the experience
and individual handling time is more intimate the smaller the group size.
| Animal Classification | What makes a mammal a mammal, a fish a fish etc? This lesson covers the 5 vertebrate groups (fish, amphibians,
reptiles, birds & mammals). Invertebrates are also covered.
| The Lush Rainforests | This lesson demonstrates the fragility and importance of the world’s
rainforests covering the plants and animals that make the tropical rainforest their home. Enhanced by a
beautiful variety of live animals indigenous to the rainforest. This is a flexible lesson that can incorporate
animals, artwork, and touches on the everyday products we take for granted, that originated in the rainforest.
| The Harsh Deserts | Using a variety of live desert animals to demonstrate
their incredible resilience and adaptations for living in such a tough environment. This is a flexible
lesson that can incorporate animals, artwork, and touches on the people who have made the desert their home.
