About Jay Jay trained as a
graphic artist and then went on to become a qualified teacher. He has over 18 years teaching experience
and has worked with all ages and abilities in nurseries, schools, colleges and universities. His love of
animals started at a young age and led to various experiences from working in an animal rescue centre to studying the Dragons
on the Island of Komodo in Indonesia.
Although
he has always had a variety of pets, he started to keep and breed animals professionally over 20 years ago.
For 6 years Jay worked at Edinburgh Zoo in a number of roles including Senior Education Officer
and Senior Animal Presenter where he initiated and developed a range of animal presentations.
Due to the success of his phobia sessions and animal handling with the public, he decided to combine all
these skills to create ‘Jays Animal Encounters’ – bringing the zoo to you!
