Pedro!	28th June 2010 Pedro, one of Jays Mexican Red Knee Tarantulas has just found out he will be making a cameo appearence in an up and coming episode of the Channel 4 series 'Skins' good luck Pedro!
Super Science event	15th, 16th 17th, 23rd and the 25th June 2010 Jay has been working with NEPIC and their Super Science programme, which has been great fun and really well recieved. A big thanks to Ian, Helen and the rest of the gang for making Jay and the Animals feel so welcome!
The new Look!	8th June 2010 Look out for the new look designer range! Yep, the new Spring/Summer collection (lol...) has now hit the streets! sweat shirts, hoodies, caps and those always fashionable Bum bags  are now available!
Baby Bindi	17th May 2010 Jay collected a Baby Coatimundi 'Baby Bindi' to join the animal team, she was only a few weeks old and needed bottle feeding every three hours, but she has thrived and now is quite a little character. She is already used to wearing her little harness and walk beautifully on the lead. With that cute little face and funny antics, I think she's gonna be a bit hit!
In the News!	13th May 2010 Jays Animal Encounters is in the Local News. Mango and Kiwi	12th May 2010 Mango and Kiwi, two Black capped caiques (pronounced Kikes!) joined the animal team, they are brothers and fabulous little characters. Black Capped Caiques are the clowns of the Parrot world and are often referred to as Monkey Parrots because of their amusing antics!
Maku and Meeka	10th May 2010 'Maku gets a Girlfriend!' A baby female Meerkat (named Meeka) has joined the animal team. She is a partner for Maku and he has taken to her instantly. they love snuggling up in their hammock. Maku at the bottom and Meeka on the top!
Bunnyland Set-up	2nd to the 5th April 2010 Jays Animal Encounters will be at Glasgow Science Centres 'Bunnyland' for the Easter Weekend. I's always a brilliant Weekend with lots to do! From hatching chicks to baby Pygmy Hedgehogs and a whole host of animals in between, hope to see you there....
Maku Ready to Run	19th March 2010 Jay and Maku took part in the Sport Relief Mile at their local Primary School, Maku looked pretty cool in his high Viz running vest and took the big occasion in his stride, what a star!
Jay and Peanut	13th & 14th March 2010 Jay and the animals were invited to Alnwick Gardens for the weekend as part of a promotion for Science in Schools , the weather and venue were both amazing and we made some lovely new friends!
Tom and Bull-frog	22nd February 2010 Tom Walker joined Jay and the Animals for a weeks work experience. He has proved to be an excellent keeper and has really got involved in everything from cleaning out all the animals to feeding the giant snakes. Well done Tom!
Jay and Maku	30th October 2009 Jays Animal Encounters will be visiting Glasgow Science Centre for their 'Halloween Party' It's always a brilliant night, with fantastic costumes and lots of fun activities for all the family.
Filming for C-beebies	September 2009 Jay and the animals filmed an episode of 'Animals at Work' for the C-beebies channel, it was great fun and a special thanks to High Coniscliffe Primary School for making it such a special day! The programme should hit our screens early next year.
Tony Junior and Friends	August 2009 Jay and the animals made some new friends at the Spittal seaside festival, it is always a really nice event and this year was no exception! The very funny Tony Junior had his hands full with not only all the children, but the animals as well!
Easter Chicks	10th - 13th April 2009 Jays Animal Encounters will be visiting Glasgow Science Centre for 'Bunnyland' over the Easter weekend. With lots of cute and cuddley Easter babies, from pygmy hedgehogs and little Easter chicks to ferrets, peanut the Skunk and other furry friends! - should be fun!
Albino Retic	28th March 2009 A female Lavender Albino Tiger reticulated python has joined the team - She is absolutely stunning and has a very gentle nature.
	February 2009 Jay and the Animals will be at 'Sensation' in Dundee from the 13th of Feb until the 16th.
Baby Millipede	January 2009 The Giant African Millipedes had been mating towards the end of last year and now the babies are starting to appear from the substrate - they grow really quickly, but have still got some way to go to catch Mum and Dad up!
Merry Christmas!	December 2008 Merry Christmas Everybody! Hope you have a great time and Santa's good to you all!
Male Chinchilla	2nd November 2008 A group of 4 beautiful Chinchillas have joined the animal team to balance out the furry side of things. There are two males and two females so maybe the tiny patter of baby Chinchillas will be on the horizon?
Halloween Encounters	Friday 31st October 2008 Jay and the Animals had a spooky time at Glasgow Science Centres' fabulous Halloween Party. Boomer the Giant rat and Big boy were firm favourites with the crowd. I've finally got the make up off!
Giant Moth	27th October 2008 Jay managed to hatch out some Giant Atlas Moths ready for Halloween, this is the Worlds largest moth species and breathtakingly beautiful, the only sad thing is that as an adult they have no mouth and only live for about a week, hopefully they will manage to mate in that time.
Radio Clyde	24th October 2008 Jay and a few scaly friends took part in a live radio broadcast to promote Science Week and to inspire young and old to care for our wonderful wildlife.
Green Trees Mating	3rd January 2008 Happy New Year! and what a great start, the Green Tree Pythons have been cycled and were seen mating all this week, so fingers crossed.
Christmas at the Glasgow Science Centre	10th December 2007 Jays Animal Encounters visited Glasgow Science Centre to take part in their Christmas Extravaganza. It was great fun and I must say a big thanks to all the Staff for making us feel so welcome.
Children at Sensation	26th September 2006 ' Computer feeling a bit better!' Well, atlast the computer is almost back to normal - Massive apologies to those of you that had Emailed me over that period or were waiting for me to update the website. Should be getting things back to normal over the next week or so.   Jay
Jay meets the Hamiltons	28th August ' Lunch with the Hamiltons' As part of this years Edinburgh fringe, Jay was invited to 'Lunch with the Hamiltons' a live chat show in the Pleasance Dome. It was great fun and Neil and Christine were both superb with the audience and the animals.
Education Award	Thursday 1st June - 'Our First Award!' On the first of June ' Jays Animal Encounters' collected it's first ever award for forging links with Edinburgh Schools. It was a fantastic day, with some superb school projects on display. I would especially like to thank 'Davidson's Mains Primary School' for my nomination and their enthusiasm each time I visit.
Belly Dancers at the Races	Monday 22nd May - Musselburgh Race Course Jays Animal Encounters turned even more exotic with a day at the races. It was arabian night at Musselburgh Racecourse and what a fantastic night, belly bancers, camel racing and of course snake handling! a big thanks to Claire Richardson for organising such a superdb and enjoyable night!
Laura and Diego the Tegu	Friday 14th - Monday 17th April, Easter at Glasgow Science Centre Jays Animal Encounters put on an Animal Eggstravaganza over the Easter Weekend at Glasgow Science Centre - A big thanks to all the lovely people that we met and especially to Laura, Ruth, Steve and the rest of the Science team for all their help.
New female Blue Tongue	Friday 3rd March - Beautiful Blue Tongue! With her fabulous colours and sweet nature, this gorgeous girl just had to join the animal encounters team. Blue Tongue Skinks are really interesting animals, having shiny almost fish-like scales, reduced limbs and of course a bright cobalt blue tongue - to warn off any would be predators!
Animal Care Students	Thursday 19th January - Animal Care at Keighley College Jay has started to teach one day a month, on the two superb animal care courses on offer at Keighley College in Yorkshire. A big thanks to Robin, Ian and all the students for making us feel so welcome.
Jay and Sydney	Sunday 4th December - Sad Goodbye to Sydney the Snake Sadly on Sunday morning, Sydney the most beautiful carpet python you could ever meet had died. He was a true gentle giant and brought so much to all those that met him. Sydney was a good age and had grown to be the largest male carpet python that I had ever seen, he will be sorely missed. Thanks for all the good times!
Day old Frillie	Friday 25th November - Baby Frilled Dragons start to hatch well it seems to have taken for ever to achieve, the frilleds took a long time to reach sexual maturity, then after two failed clutches - and a couple of small changes we finally seem to have cracked it. Our first baby frilled dragons - with their big heads, tiny frills and beautiful hi-contrast patterns, the wait was certainly worth it!
Baby Hedgehogs Suckling	Monday 31st October - First litter of baby Pygmy Hedgehogs Miss Tiggy the African Pygmy hedgehog gave birth to her first litter of hoglets (including 2 albinos). There were 5 born although sadly one died within the first hour. Poor old Mum, didn't quite know what to make of them at first and it looked like they may be rejected. Then amazingly instict kicked in and as you can see she has become a perfect Mum.
Jay looking Devilish	Friday 28th October - Halloween night at Glasgow Science Centre Jays Animal Encounters Spent a spooky night at Glasgows Science Centre. Giant snakes and the worlds largest species of spider were the main attractions on a fabulous night. If you didn't make it this time - it's a must for next year! Top effort to all those in fancy dress and a special thanks to Jo my corpse bride! whooaah!!!
Our Dynamic visit	Saturday October 15th - Friday October 21st 'Our Dynamic Earth' Jays Animal Encounters spent a fantastic week at Edinburgh's 'Our Dynamic Earth'. Snowball the Albino Pygmy Hedgehog was the star of the show. Many thanks for all the lovely Emails from the people we met, very much appreciated.
Ziggy and Friends	Saturday September 24th Jays Animal Encounters took part in the 'Eco Day' at Abernethy Primary School. The weather was fantastic, it was a great day out and some of the animals (especially Ziggy) made some new friends.
Red Knee with her young	Wednesday July 6th Both of the Mexican Red Knee Tarantulas egg cases hatched out today. There are hundereds of little spiderlings which will take around five years to reach adulthood. If you look closely at the picture you should be able to see the babies.
